On June 21-24, Zhao Yan, of the Shenzhen Academy of Metrology and Quality Inspection, completed an ASTM International Intensive Training Program. The program occurred in conjunction with the meetings of ASTM Committees D02 on Petroleum, Liquid Fuels and Lubricants and D16 on Aromatic Hydrocarbons and Related Chemicals. Yan learned about and observed the ASTM process of developing ASTM standards, including proposing new standards or revisions, and attended many of the on-site orientation and training programs available during the meetings. The Shenzhen Academy sponsored Yan's participation; she is responsible for quality and the analysis of petroleum products at the academy's laboratories.
