ASTM Standardization News (SN) is the all-encompassing magazine for well informed scientific and engineering professionals.

It is a valuable source for new and improved technology and voluntary consensus standardization.

Composition
No charge for insertion of key numbers, department numbers, or tag lines. Other typesetting, layout, and artwork will be charged at cost plus 10% and must be submitted for estimates through the Advertising Department.

Electronic Advertisement Submission
Preferred order of materials: press-ready PDF, or native page layout files InDesign CS4 (Mac), Illustrator CS4 (outlined type) (Mac), (Quark Xpress 6.5 (Mac or PC), Pagemaker 6.5 (Mac). Supporting applications: Photoshop CS4, Acrobat 8.0 also available).

Image resolution: 300 DPI, line art resolution: 1064 DPI. SN is printed Web offset and all electronic files must adhere to SN Mechanical Requirements and SWOP standards as defined in SRDS.

Proof: Hard copy proofs must accompany digital files. Analog matchprint proofs or halftone dot digital proofs must accompany color files. If no acceptable matchprint is supplied, color will be run to industry standard density.

Fonts: Supply all used fonts by embedding them in your PDF or including them with your layout. Postscript Type I fonts required — True Type fonts may need to be substituted.

Images: Send all supporting images with submission of native files.

Analog negatives may also be supplied. Negative (133 screen, right reading emulsion down), match print proof, or positive photo-ready mechanical. From these SN will produce an electronic copy and will return one proof for your approval.

Conditions

  1. Minimum display advertisement — quarter page.
  2. Advertisers and agencies assume full responsibility for advertisements and claims arising therefrom. The society reserves the right to reject any advertisement that in its opinion does not meet the objective of the publication.
  3. No cancellations after closing.
  4. If copy, offset advertising material, or instructions are not received by closing, the publisher reserves the right to print the last advertisement published for the advertiser.

Closing Dates

  1. Space reservation: 15th of month preceding month of issue.
  2. Preferred material: 15th of month preceding month of issue.
  3. Publication set copy: 25th of second month preceding month of issue.

professional services. Professional Services Cards will also appear in the online edition with links to the advertisers' Web sites. Noncancellable.

Camera-ready advertising

Preferred Position Rate
5% of earned rate.

Earned Rates
Determined by number of insertions used within the contract year.

Short Rates & Rebates
Advertisers will be short rated if, within a 12-month period from the date of the first insertion, they do not use the amount of space upon which their billings have been based. Advertisers will be rebated if, within 12-month period from the date of first insertion, they have used sufficient space to earn a lower rate.

Rate Protection
Advertisers will be protected at contract rates for the duration of their present contract. Thirty-day notice will be given of rate revision.

Agency Commission
15% to recognized agencies, except on Professional Cards, typeset classified ads, and special production charges, provided account is paid within 30 days.

No cash discount.
The publisher reserves the right to hold advertiser and/or its advertising agency jointly and severally liable for such monies as are due and payable to the publisher.
