Second-grade students from Conshohocken Elementary School in the Colonial School District recently showed their gratitude to ASTM International for its continued support of an after-school nature club. ASTM International, based in West Conshohocken, sponsors the program, which is presented by the Riverbend Environmental Education Center in Gladwyne.
As part of the program, instructors from Riverbend come to the school to teach a variety of nature lessons. On May 15, the students learned about the water cycle and turtle adaptations in live water, complete with a live turtle and demonstration. The lessons often include hands-on activities and games.
ASTM International will also fund an upcoming field trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia, Pa., for Conshohocken Elementary third graders. The organization’s continued support makes it possible for all students to participate. ASTM provides charitable donations and sponsors several Riverbend-related learning activities each year for local area students, both at their schools and at the Riverbend Environmental Education Center.
