We are pleased to announce the slate of candidates for board offices, selected by the ASTM International Nominating Committee. Terms will begin Jan. 1, 2026, for board chair (one-year term); board vice chair (two-year term); and six directors (three-year terms). The election is official when the ballot closes on Dec. 4, the deadline for receipt of all ballots.

CHAIR 2026
Amer Bin Ahmed has close to 20 years of experience in the gypsum industry, and he has led business development in the Middle East and Asia for building products companies Boral and Lafarge.
Bin Ahmed was most recently managing director of Knauf Middle East, a subsidiary partner of the multinational construction company Knauf. Bin Ahmed was responsible for building a large-scale sustainable business operation for Knauf in the Middle East and India.
During his tenure at Knauf, Bin Ahmed’s commitment to standards was recognized with a number of awards. He received a CEO of the Year Award from the Future Cities media group in 2016, as well as recognition from the Dubai Civil Defense and the Dubai Municipality. Through Bin Ahmed’s commitment to sustainability on behalf of Knauf and the United Arab Emirates, Knauf was honored with the Green Award by the Ministry of Infrastructure earlier this year.
VICE CHAIR 2026-2027
Tripp Fischer is chief science officer at Brownfield Science and Technology, Inc. (BSTI), where he has worked since 2009.
Fischer currently serves as chair of the corrective action subcommittee (E50.04), part of the committee on environmental assessment, risk management, and corrective action (E50). Fischer has been an ASTM International member since 2002 and has served on the committee on standards (COS) and the soil and rock committee (D18). Fischer was honored with a Committee on Standards (COS) Service Award, the Robert J. Painter Award, and the Award of Merit.
In addition to his work at ASTM, Fischer is a member of the American Bar Association and is an advisory board member to the dean of sciences and mathematics at West Chester University. Fischer earned a master’s degree in engineering science from the Pennsylvania State University and a bachelor’s degree in geology from West Chester University.
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Dhuanne Dodrill is the chair of the board, president, and CEO of PAXXUS, and she has over 35 years of experience in the flexible packaging industry. She currently chairs the Sterilization Packaging Manufacturers Council, has served on the Executive Board of Directors of the Flexible Packaging Association, and is a member of the Sterile Barrier Association’s board. She is also one of the founding members of Kilmer Innovations in Packaging (KiiP).
Dodrill joined ASTM International as a member in 1996, and she has been an active member of the committee on primary barrier packaging (F02) since then. She went on to chair the committee, and she received the Outgoing Chair Award (2017) and Award of Merit (2021) for her contributions to F02. She is also an active member of the committees on packaging (D02) and plastics (D20).
Dodrill received a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Karen Lehtonen is senior vice president of innovation and product development with LION, where she has worked since 2000. Prior to joining LION, Karen worked for Intertek Testing.
An ASTM International member since 2000, Lehtonen is an active member of the committees on color and appearance (E12); homeland security applications (E54); and protective clothing and equipment (F23). She is the immediate past chair of F23, and she has served as sub chair for the subcommittees on PPE conformity assessment, interoperability, and compatibility (F23.50) and planning (F23.95). For her work with F23, she has received the Award of Achievement (2016), Award of Appreciation (2021), and Outgoing Chair Award (2024). She is currently on the Safety Equipment Institute (SEI) Board, an affiliate of ASTM.
Lehtonen received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Rochester Institute of Technology.
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Adam Morrison is the owner and CEO of the technical consulting firm Streamline Design, which serves the emergent aircraft industry.
Since joining ASTM International in 2002, Morrison has served several terms as chair of the committee on light sport aircraft (F37), and he currently serves as vice chair of the committee. He also serves as sub chair for the scoping (F37.01) and airplane (F37.20) subcommittees. For his contributions to the committee, Morrison has received the Outstanding Leadership Award (2016), Daniel Schultz Award (2012), and Award of Appreciation (2004). He is also an active member of the committees on unmanned aircraft systems (F38); aircraft systems (F39); general aviation aircraft (F44); and aerospace personnel (F46). Additionally, Morrison served on the committee on technical committee operations (COTCO) for three years and was given the COTCO Service Award (2012).
Morrison holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with aerospace concentration from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Ian Mylrea is director of research and development with Stanhope-Seta, where has worked since 2010.
Mylrea joined ASTM International in 2010, and he currently serves as first secretary for the committee on petroleum products, liquid fuels, and lubricants (D02). He also serves as vice chair for the subcommittee on sampling (D02.08); section chair for the subcommittee on flammability (D02.08.0B); and membership secretary for the subcommittee on aviation fuels (D02.J0). For his contributions to D02, Mylrea has received the Award of Appreciation (2014, 2019); James A. Thomas President’s Leadership Award (2017); and the Award of Excellence (2022, 2023). He is also an active member of the committees on paint and related coatings, materials, and applications (D01) and waste management (D34).
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Ryan Pelter is a quality supervisor with Nucor Steel Marion. Previously, he was a senior design engineer at Liberty Engineered Wire Products, where he has worked since 2000.
Pelter became a member of ASTM International in 2004, when he joined the committees on concrete pipe (C13) and steel, stainless steel, and related alloys (A01). He received the Award of Excellence and Award of Merit (2022) for his contributions to A01 and the Robert R. Litehiser Award (2019) for his work with C13. He is currently chair of the subcommittee on steel reinforcement (A01.05) and the vice chair for the correlation and editorial subcommittee (C13.10). He previously served as vice chair for the executive subcommittee (A01.90) and subcommittee on acceptance specifications and precast concrete box sections (C13.07). Pelter also served three years on the committee on standards and received the Committee on Standards (COS) Service Award (2023).
Pelter received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Ohio Northern University, and a master’s of business administration degree from the University of Findlay.
2026-2028 DIRECTOR
Sergio Vazquez Jimenez serves as the secretary general of the European Organization for Technical Assessment (EOTA), headquartered in Brussels. EOTA is a non-profit association that brings together Europe’s Technical Assessment Bodies (TABs) to develop European Assessment Documents (EADs) and issue European Technical Assessments (ETAs), enabling CE marking for innovative and non-standard construction products.
Vazquez Jimenez is a supporter of ASTM standards and has looked to utilize ASTM content in the EOTA documents that enable innovative construction products to enter the European market. Old versions of the EADs include several references to ASTM standards and test methods, and ASTM and EOTA have been exploring ways to formalize the cooperation.
Vazquez Jimenez received a degree in technical architecture, as well as a master ‘s of business administration degree, from the University of Seville. He also received a master’s degree in occupational risks prevention from the University of Camilo Jose Cela.
