On June 20-23, ASTM staff members James Olshefsky, Ileane Smith and George Zajdel attended the American Society for Engineering Education conference in Louisville, Ky. Olshefsky made a presentation titled "Bridging the Gap Between Classroom Learning and Real World Applications" and moderated a session on "Innovative Pedagogies for Teaching Introductory Materials Courses."

Many universities were represented at the conference, including Purdue University, which held an informative session focusing on what employers want regarding knowledge of technical standards and the process of standardization. ASTM also hosted a booth at the ASEE conference exhibition, and staffers met faculty members from various schools who said they use ASTM standards quite extensively in their curricula.
