Maria Isabel Barrios, ASTM's Latin American representative, joined the U.S. delegation at the Standards Alliance Conference on the World Trade Organization Code of Good Practice for the Preparation, Adoption and Application of Standards. The workshop was held May 12-13 in Bogotá, Colombia. Barrios presented in three conference sessions, addressing various aspects of standards development.
In addition to Barrios, the U.S. delegation included representatives of the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative, A2LA, Cisco Systems, the National Electrical Manufacturers Association and Underwriters Laboratories.
The Standards Alliance is a joint American National Standards Institute-U.S. Agency for International Development initiative that supports global cooperation and capacity building in the areas of standards development, technical regulations, good regulatory practice and conformity assessment.
