Workshop Presented by ASTM and Bombay Textile Research Association

Sam Allen, vice president of TRI/Environmental Inc. and a past chairman and longtime member of ASTM Committee D35 on Geosynthetics, presented at a joint ASTM/Bombay Textile Research Association workshop on geosynthetics on Jan. 22 in Mumbai, India.

ASTM International and the Bombay Textile Research Association conducted a joint one-day geotextiles workshop on Jan. 22 at BTRA's headquarters in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.

More than 30 participants attended the workshop to hear presentations by Sam Allen, vice president of TRI/Environmental Inc., Austin, Texas, and V.K. Patil, senior scientific officer in charge of the geotextiles laboratory at BTRA. Allen, a member and past chairman of ASTM International Committee D35 on Geotextiles, presented his first session on two Geosynthetic Institute standards GM13 and GM17, both of which reference many ASTM standards. Allen's second session focused on geosynthetic reinforcement.

Patil spoke on BTRA's experience with testing geosynthetics. Following the presentations, participants were taken on a tour of the BTRA laboratories.
