Artificial Intelligence Policy: ASTM International prohibits the entry of ASTM standards and related ASTM intellectual property (“ASTM IP”) into any form of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools, such as ChatGPT. Additionally, creating ----derivatives of ASTM IP using AI is also prohibited without express written permission from ASTM’s President. In the case of such use, ASTM will suspend a licensee’s access to ASTM IP, and further legal action will be considered.
Liu Fei, chief representative in China, ASTM International, attended the 2011 annual meeting of the Materials Technology Institute Asia Technical Advisory Committee in Shanghai, China, in September 2011. Liu Fei met with over 60 technical engineers from more than 30 companies. His presentation focused on ASTM activities in the Asia Pacific region, including the memorandum of understanding program, training, standards application and the participation of Asia Pacific countries in the ASTM standardization process. MTI participants expressed interest in further communication and technical training from ASTM. MTI has more than 50 multinational member companies, most of which are familiar with ASTM and use ASTM standards.
