On Oct. 20, 2013, Liu Fei, ASTM's chief representative in China, gave a lecture on standards and global market competitiveness to about 100 graduate and undergraduate students and professors at the Hunan University's School of Economy and Trade in Changsha, the capital city of the Hunan Province in China. The lecture focused on the role of standards in product life cycles as well as the particular influence of the ASTM International standards development process in the global marketplace. Hunan University is one of several universities in China offering a course on standards and standardization.
