Joined by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission’s Regional Product Safety Attaché for Asia Pacific, Jake Miller (back row, fourth from left), and attended by over 30 representatives of Chinese battery and hoverboard manufacturers, ASTM and UL hosted a roundtable discussion in Beijing, China. Representatives from CPSC, the China Council for Promotion of Investment and Trade, U.S. Department of Commerce, UL, and ASTM provided remarks that were followed by presentations on the standards development process and discussions about the UL standard for electrical safety and ASTM’s work item pertaining to mechanical safety of hoverboards.
