I would recommend section 7.4.3 be revised to: 7.4.3 The coating thickness of the standards used shall bracket the user's highest and lowest coating thickness measurement requirement. For expected low coating thicknesses, e.g. less than 0.001” (0.025mm), zeroing of the measurement equipment per the manufacturer’s instructions may be considered as meeting the lower bracketed standard when verifying the calibration accuracy of the measuring instrument. Standards suitable for many applications of the test method are commercially available and may be used provided the certified values are traceable to a National Metrology Institution.
