Rationale

The purpose of this revision is to add an appropriate definition for the term “aliquot” as used in at least two ASTM Standards (E2520 and E2677) developed in E54. Once approved, this definition may be added to the next E2771 update (Standard Terminology for Homeland Security Applications). The term “aliquot” has various definitions dependent on the application and has been defined 15 times in ASTM standards outside of E54. Here, we derive an appropriate definition used in chemical applications. Only the redline portions of the test method shown below are being balloted.
