Rationale

Proposed Changes to ASTM E2428 – Single Ended Arm Guidance Problem: current X4.8.1 provides no method X4.7 gives a quantitative bending parameter B for symmetrical arms (double-loading, 150 % / 50 %). X4.8.1 only states that single-ended arms present challenges and refers the user to X4.3 (proficiency testing). Result: labs with single-ended arms have no defined method to quantify overturning-moment (overhung load) uncertainty — it is effectively left to PT participation. Proposal: replace X4.8.1 with a measured method parallel in structure to X4.7; retain PT as an independent check.
