Rationale

Subcommittee E04.05 has identified the following items requiring revision: Clarify the terminology used in Equation 11 (dmax and dmin) by incorporating ASTM E92 Section 3.3.1 into ASTM E384 Section 3.4. Increase the resolution of Figure 1 from 130° to 130° 0' to align with the Knoop indenter resolution described in Section 3.2.3. Incorporate ASTM E92 Sections 9.2, 9.2.1, and 9.2.2 into ASTM E384 Section 9.0 to provide guidance for reporting converted hardness values. Include terminology clarification from E92 WK89090 regarding indentation diagonals, along with the equation used to calculate the 5% difference, in Section 8.10.3. Incorporate Figure 3 updates from E92 WK89090.
