ASTM WK99022
Rationale: D4097 Standard Specification for Contact-Molded Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Thermoset Resin Corrosion-Resistant Tanks is being balloted for withdrawal because its content has been added to D3299 Standard Specification for Filament Wound Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Thermoset Resin Corrosion-Resistant Tanks. With that addition, the title of D3299 was changed to Standard Specification for Glass-Fiber-Reinforced Thermoset Resin Corrosion-Resistant Tanks. D3299 now covers both contact-molded and filament wound tanks, so D4097 is therefore redundant and is no longer necessary. Hence this ballot for withdrawal of D4097. Additional work (and future ballot(s)) is in progress to the newly revised (expanded) and recently published D3299-26 to correct any improper non-mandatory language and update requirements and technology. Additional background: Many requirements for both contact molded (D4097-19) and filament wound (D3299-24) tanks were essentially the same with the prime difference between the two standards being the manufacturing method. By adding the contact molded tanks unique content to D3299, both types of tanks are now included in the revised D3299-26. This will simplify future maintenance and updates, and users can now find both types of tanks in one standard source. Your affirmative vote is appreciated.
