New Test Method for Determination of Trace Carbon Monoxide and Carbon Dioxide in Propylene by Gas Chromatography
1. Scope
This test method covers the determination of trace carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2) in propylene. It is applicable to CO and CO2 concentrations from 1 to 100 ppmv (parts per million by volume).
Keywords
Methanizer
Rationale
Analysis of CO and CO2 was included in ASTM methods D2504 and D2505 for ethylene. However, these methods have since been withdrawn. At present, no ASTM standard test method exists for the determination of CO and CO2 in propylene using gas chromatography with methanizer-FID detection.
