1.1 This test method covers the validation of fabric drape behavior by comparing physical fabric specimens to corresponding digitally simulated three-dimensional (3D) fabric representations of the same material.
1.2 Drape validation is based on the assessment of how a fabric hangs, folds, and exhibits volume when applied to a defined object or avatar, and includes the evaluation of similarities and differences between physical and digital drape behavior.
1.3 This test method establishes a framework for evaluating the degree of agreement between physical and digital drape using defined qualitative and quantitative criteria.
1.4 This test method includes guidance for aligning physical and digital test environments, including specimen configuration, object or avatar definition, and visual capture conditions necessary for comparison.
1.5 This test method is applicable to textile fabrics and other flexible sheet materials where drape behavior is a relevant characteristic.
1.6 This test method is intended for the validation and benchmarking of 3D fabric physics simulations and is independent of specific software, simulation tools, or material input methods.
1.7 This test method is limited to the evaluation of simulated drape behavior and does not assess the accuracy of underlying physical material property measurements used as inputs to simulation models.
1.8 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard.
1.9 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety, health, and environmental practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
1.10 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.
