Rationale

This ballot proposes a revision to ASTM F1193, “Standard Practice for Quality, Manufacture, and Construction of Amusement Rides and Devices,” to provide clarity as it pertains to Welder Qualification Records (WQR). National and international welding codes/norms, including those listed below, identify WQR requirements, and F1193 identifies these requirements within the standard for clarity.  • CSA (Canadian Standards Association) • ISO (International Organization for Standardization) • JIS (Japanese Industrial Standards) • AWS (American Welding Society)  • GB (National Standard of China) Note: The title of this section, “Welder Qualification Records,” aligns with ASTM F2974 section #12.
