New Test Method for Vat Photopolymerization Cure Depth Measurement
1. Scope
This standard establishes a printer-independent procedure for measuring the interaction between radiant light exposure and resin photocuring behavior to characterize the working curve of resins used in vat photopolymerization (VPP). It provides a reliable method for determining key spatial and temporal response parameters, including cure depth (Cd), critical exposure (Ec), light penetration depth (Dp) and, to facilitate material quality control, improve interlaboratory data reliability, and encourage datasheet consistency.
This Test Method is designed to enable robust quality control within the vat photopolymerization (VPP) industry. By standardizing the measurement of essential resin characteristics, including resin reactivity and light penetration, users can consistently monitor batch-to-batch consistency and track how resin aging impacts performance over time. Beyond daily operations, this practice captures critical property-parameter relationships that enable accurate predictive formulation, modeling, and computational design. Ultimately, unifying these experimental setups allows end-users, developers, and researchers to directly compare data across different organizations, supporting the growth of diverse, industry-relevant, trusted data repositories.
