The scope of the this standard will reference and specify items within the existing ISO/ASTM 52945:2023
Additive manufacturing for automotive — Qualification principles — Generic machine evaluation and specification of key performance indicators for PBF-LB/M processes from F42.07 Automotive for either more generic use or specific to Aerospace. This standard will focus on the acceptable test apparatus for the various requirements and artifacts in addition to the referenced "methods. This standard will also further refine the concept of IQ/EQ (Installation/Equipment Qualification)
Currently many in the industry are getting familiar with the required equipment calibration. Unfortunately, not all machine OEMs or machine users are using similar methods, or covering the same requirements even after 10+ years of PBF-LB/M. As the IQ/OQ/PQ and MQ methodologies take hold in the industry, it is necessary to update our Machine calibration methods, requirements, apparatus, and artifacts.
