Rationale

ASTM C1620 currently lacks a direct reference to AAMA 812, despite the fact that aerosol polyurethane foam sealants are routinely used in and around rough openings and fenestration assemblies. AAMA 812 provides an established, industry-recognized test method that is directly applicable to these common use areas. This proposed modification incorporates AAMA 812 into ASTM C1620 by adding it to the Referenced Documents, including it as optional testing in Section 6.7, and listing it in Table 1. This aligns C1620 with existing industry practice and with ASTM C1852, which already references AAMA 812 for aerosol foam sealants used in fenestration applications. Including this reference improves consistency across ASTM standards, provides clearer guidance to manufacturers and specifiers, and enhances the technical robustness of C1620. The change supports informed product evaluation where fenestration performance is relevant, while maintaining flexibility for manufacturers and users.
