ASTM ASTM WK98682
Binder jetting Technology for Metals (BJT-MSt/M) is an additive manufacturing (AM) process that offers additional manufacturing options with respect to those offered by conventional processes. The strengths and weaknesses of conventional, long-established manufacturing processes, such as cutting, joining, and shaping processes (e.g., by machining, welding, forming or injection moulding), are known and properly considered at the design stage and when selecting the manufacturing process. In the case of BJT-MSt/M and AM in general, design and manufacturing engineers can have less experience, so the design and manufacturing process selection can be more complicated. However, since BJT-MSt/M does not have certain limitations associated with conventional processes, it offers designers and manufacturers a high degree of freedom. Understanding the possibilities and limitations of the process allows designers and engineers to make full use of the design freedom associated with the technology, while avoiding designs that can lead to defective products.
