Rationale

The ASTM D1655 and D7566 jet fuel specifications include numerous ASTM flash point test methods as acceptable with ASTM D56 as the "referee" test method. However, a footnote in the Table 1 of 1655/7566 indicates that there is a bias between the various flash point methods which cause supply chain challenges when different test methods are employed. This Task Group seeks to review the footnote and determine the best way to address this stated bias. Solutions may include a bias correction factor or different limits for each test method in the specification. Changes are only proposed to the specification document and not to any of the test methods.
