ASTM terminology is used to give a precise understanding of terms used in our standards. We use the term temperature sensor in our standards although it is not well defined. Temperature sensor, n—a sensor used to provide an indication of temperature which may be a thermocouple, thermopile, thermistor, or platinum resistance thermometer.
