New Test Methods for Measuring the Flow Properties of Metal Powders using the Revolution Powder Analyzer
1. Scope
1.1 This test method covers the determination of powder flow properties of metal powders and powder mixtures using a rotating drum.
1.2 Specific flow parameters include avalanche angle, avalanche energy, break energy, cohesion, dynamic density, surface fractal, volume fraction, flowing layer thickness, volume reduction, after vibration density, rise height, height slope, volume slope, settling time, and settling percent

Rationale
The Hall Flow test (ASTM Test Method B213), commonly used in conventional powder metallurgy processes, is not entirely adequate for assessing flowability, especially in additive manufacturing processes. This standard will provide a more useful and applicable flowability assessment
