New Specification for Styrene-Barrier Flexible Felt/Glass-Reinforced Cured-in-Place Pipe Tubes for Tight-Fit Gravity and Pressure Pipeline Rehabilitation.
1. Scope
This specification covers materials and test requirements for flexible cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) tubes incorporating a styrene-mitigation barrier. CIPP is intended for the rehabilitation of existing pipelines by forming a tight-fit pipe within a pipe after in situ curing. The tubes covered by this specification are nonwoven felt, and/or fiber reinforced and impregnated with a thermosetting resin system and include an integral, factory-applied barrier layer to significantly reduce migration of styrene or other volatile organic compounds (VOCs) during wet-out, transportation, installation, and cure.
New standard needed in the industry for the manufacturing of a styrene barrier tube to help reduce or eliminate CIPP styrene emissions for the health and safety of workers and homeowners.
