Rationale

This document is being updated as part of the periodic review initiated at five years.  The term “Data Quality Objectives (DQO)” has been replaced with “Method Performance Characteristic (MPC),” which harmonize the definition with the EUROCHEM Guide on Fitness for Purpose and other sources including IUPAC, VIM 2012 definitions. as well as improve the content in C1068. The discussion of method performance characteristics has been moved from Annex A1 into the main body of the document in section 7.2.2.  The discussion of uncertainty as it appears throughout the document was modified to ensure an understanding that uncertainty is a property of the measurement result(s) not the measurement method.  Other minor editorial changes are also shown as tracked changes.
