New Specification for Electrical Energy Storage Systems

1. Scope

This specification defines requirements for the design of rechargeable lithium batteries based Electrical Energy Storage Systems on light sport category aircraft used for propulsion purposes. This specification addresses the design, installation and qualification of the Energy Storage Device (ESD), power distribution, wiring and battery management system (engagement, protection & monitoring). The manufacturer shall comply with all applicable requirements listed in this standard.
