Rationale

We propose revision of this Practice to recognize that the minimum glass ply thickness is not consistently adopted in the international glass engineering practice. The ASTM approach maintains adoption of the glass ply minimum thickness, whereas the European Approach is to adopt nominal thickness as documented in EN 16612 “Glass in building. Determination of the lateral load resistance of glass panes by calculation” and the draft Eurocode 10 “Design of Glass Structures.” Revision is necessary for international adoption of this standard.
