Rationale

Over four years ago Dale Tucker brought a request to ASTM F06 seeking an alternate path to Commercial equivalence; other than having a 20 mil wear layer. Recently testing has been performed on several products that included both products having a 20 mil wear layer as well as other that were considered hybrid products(one’s that did not have a 30 mil wear layer but had features which manufacturers felt provided Commercial rated performance.)The products were tested for Abrasion per ISO 24338 Procedure A, Cross hatch adhesion per ASTM D3359 and for Large Ball impact per NALFA LF01. Based on that testing this Subcommittee ballot proposes an alternate path for Commercial equivalence for products that do not have a 20 mil wear layer; provided they meet all the standard specification requirements, as well as the requirements developed for these three additional properties:
