C1440 covers thermoplastic elastomeric gasket materials used in couplings used to join DWV and sewer piping. The gasket material is used in couplings used to join DWV and sewer piping. A review of the current requirements was discussed at the November 2025 subcommittee meeting and the manufacturer of these coulings volunteered to review for any needed revisions or reapproval.
