Rationale

Supplementary Requirement S2 was originally intended to allow the use of alternative lengths (bolt and/or threads) and alternative head styles or dimensions to accommodate occasional non-standard purchaser needs. It was always intended that such alternative products meet all the requirements of F3125/F3125M. However, the current wording is not explicit regarding the requirements for bolts with countersunk heads, for example. under the mistaken assumption that they can meet all the requirements of F3125/F3125M. The proposed revision of S2 aims to explicitly clarify these assumptions
