Rationale

Task Group 783 Scope: Explore the merits and feasibility of modifying ASTM B49 to reflect higher conductivity performance (i.e., =101% IACS) in existing alloy chemistries in B49, and/or through the addition of new potential alloy chemistries to B49. This specific activity will be facilitated by answering the following questions: Is there a need to change B49 to reflect higher conductivity performance? (yes/no) If yes to #1, what is the appropriate conductivity target(s) for the B49 modification (101%, 101.5%, etc.)? If yes to #1 and depending on #2, is there a need to add a new alloy chemistry(s) to B49? (yes/no)
