New Classification for Classification of common labor categories used in environmental remediation consulting
1. Scope
standardizing the terminology of 5-8 common labor categories used in environmental remediation consulting, for example, (project manager, geologist, remediation manager, CIH. The categories are then subdivided along with three or four levels indicating advancing levels of education, experience, contaminants and quantity of sites. The result will be a grid of categories cross-referenced to levels. The resulting cell is used to align key steps in the “procure to pay” process: proposing, project scoping and invoicing consistent commodities/services across vendors and environmental liability holders.
Keywords
experience; education; professional classification; environmental remediation; pay scale
Rationale
Procurement agents for environmental remediation projects are required to review a multitude of proposals that use different terms to describe specific types of environmental professionals. The procurement agent is not currently capable of comparing the expertise of these environmental professionals against a common classification.
