ASTM WK96698
A specification (Tier 1), fit-for-purpose property (Tier 2), and materials compatibility (Tier 3 – partial) evaluation of methanol to jet synthetic paraffinic kerosene (MTJ-SPK) has been completed per ASTM D4054. The gathered data have now been included in a Phase 1 research report in support of methanol as a viable feedstock, and methanol to jet conversion processes as being suitable for use in preparation of synthetic paraffinic kerosene. Properties and characteristics of the MTJ-SPK product are comparable to the previously evaluated Alcohol to Jet pathways, hence the proposed inclusion of methanol as a feedstock in the existing ASTM D7566 Annex A5 Materials and Manufacture clause. The OEM Panel has reviewed this Phase 1 research report and ballot and approved it in accordance with the ASTM D4054 standard practice.
