ASTM WK96442
ASTM Subcommittee E50.07 Climate and Community was formed in 2023 to revise this guide and develop new ASTM Standards related to community revitalization and resiliency. Guide E1984 was first approved in 1998 and revised in 2003. Due to lack of federal and state interest in revising the 2003 version, E1984 was allowed to sunset at the end of 2011 and was withdrawn. Guide E1984 is being revised in 2025 to reflect current industry best practices and align with federal Brownfields guidance, policy, regulations, and statutes. This ballot is for the significant revisions to E1984, which are summarized as follows: ? Updated process to align with EPA guidelines and real estate best practices ? Added a continuing obligations section to guide ongoing operations, maintenance, and stewardship of brownfields upon redevelopment ? Added a section on activity and use limitations (engineering and institutional controls) ? Established a general, high-level process to guide users towards other existing ASTM standards and other resources covering specific topics ? Added language addressing climate vulnerability assessments ? Expanded references and appendices ? Provided additional details on insurance mechanisms and limitations ? Expanded the Stakeholder and Community Engagement section and added and appendix
