Rationale

The committee is attempting to eliminate duplicate content among standards as the body of MOSAIC LSA standards are developed. The existing F2338 and F2339 reciprocating engine standards are extremely similar in content. F2339 has had a series of updates that have never been included in F2338--even though the content is relevant. Since the content differences are so small, this ballot consolidates the content into the F2339 standards with slight alteration to the existing language of F2339 to make sure that the resulting parts are applicable to the correct engine types where necessary. This one standard will then cover both spark and compression ignition engines.
