ASTM WK96166
A large gathering of empirical field data from the recently developed D8148 probe apparatus and D4176 attribute data was accomplished from late Q2 to Q4 of 2024. It was presented at the D02.A0 meeting in Kansas City, MO December 2024. The data comprised 375 Diesel, 328 Gasoline, 42 Jet and 4 trans-mix fuel samples. When a logistic regression statistical model was applied to correlate “clear and bright” D4176 procedure 1 results to D8148 haze clarity index (HCI) rating results, support for a D8148 revision to add a new pass/ fail procedure for D8148 is found. Later, (08/15/25) during a web-based meeting between the technical contact (R. Morgan), D02.14 Chair (E. English) and other SC-14 members permission to organize a D8148 revision task force was approved by the SC-14 Chair.
