New Test Method for Determining Remaining Shelf-Life
1. Scope
Fresh Goods processing and movement processes occurring during the goods journey from farm to consumer impact predicted and projected shelf life of those goods. In case ideal conditions are maintained all along the journey, the goods will have a maximum life-span between harvest and the time they are no longer fit to be used as food for humans. Any deviations from the ideal handling requirements in any stage of the journey, including any processing along the journey, will reduce the maximum life-span. . This standard specifies the method to systematically and methodically calculate remaining shelf-life for the fresh goods based on the events, measurement data captured as well as other parameters. Keywords

Remaining Shelf-Life (next to other quality criteria) is a key item in decision-making between Fresh Goods supply chain stakeholders. Unfortunately, for many or even most kinds of Fresh Goods, there are no commonly accepted standard methods for determining Remaining Shelf-Life. This standard aims to deliver a commonly accepted method to determine Remaining Shelf-Life based on scientific insights and industry inputs. The standard must be combined with the Guides and Practices related to the specific Fresh Goods.
