New Practice for Handling of Fresh Goods
1. Scope
This practice describes the commonly accepted ways of handling Fresh Goods that are specific for a given fresh or perishable good to maintain shelf life predictions. It will also cover a minimum set of documents (preferably electronic), related to the chain of custody, with date and time stamps for each leg of the product's journey toward point of sale for the consumer. These documents would provide evidence of compliance with the specifications of product handling. They may be accessed by a variety of stakeholders in the supply chain up to and including the consumer. Keywords

When fresh or perishable items are sourced from land owners who produce items for sale that need to be transported from their origin location to where the buyer will consume the goods at a retail location, or as part of a combining of products to make something new that is consumed. The farm to table supply chain can involve many value added steps, and between each value producer, the certificate of authentication and communication of expected handling requirements must be conveyed to any service providers who will have custody and control of the products in transport, or in supply chain handling activities. See GMP F3682 and Stakeholders F3776.
