Revision of D5707-23 Standard Test Method for Measuring Friction and Wear Properties of Lubricating Grease Using a High-Frequency, Linear-Oscillation (SRV) Test Machine

Rationale

The research reports RR:D02-1410, RR:D02-1565, RR:D02-1845 and RR:D02-1917 support the precision statements for 50°C and 80°C. The statistical analysis of the round robin test in 2024 was established by using ASTM D2PP software and the research report is submitted for ballot. This balloting includes changes in the precision statements as follows: a. 120°C will be added a third test temperature, b. Precision statements for coefficients of friction will be adjusted slightly and c. Precision statements for wear scar diameters will be tightened. Even the research report discloses precision statements for each test temperatures, all precision statements will be equalized to one value for all three temperatures.
