There is currently no standard for to provide a practice for how to determine floor flatness. Previous method has consisted of using a 10-foot straight edge. Technologies such as altimeters and electronic levels can produce more accurate measurements. There is a need for standardization on how these different tools are used to provide more consistent and meaningful data. Users would include: installers, contractors, inspectors, and end users.
