ASTM WK94882
Revision of D1655-24b Standard Specification for Aviation Turbine Fuels
Rationale
Rational for revision Subcommittee J Task Force AC721 Evaluation of Aviation Fuel Co-Processing Pathways offers the following proposed modification of D1655. This modification will permit the co-processing of generic, non-conventional feedstocks at up to 5% by volume. At a minimum, this material will need to be co-hydroprocessed and fractionated. In addition, the simultaneous co-processing of multiple non-conventional feedstocks would also be permitted, limited to 10% by volume (with up to 5% of a generic non-conventional feed and up to an additional 5% of one of the other approved streams in Annex A1). All processing requirements for the individual non-conventional feedstocks (e.g. volume limits, processing unit requirements, and fuel property limits) would still apply. The proposed modification is supported by the accompanying research report.
