1. Scope
This guide provides a framework for recruiting and screening participants for consumer testing. It recommends and provides examples to develop criteria for consumer selection, screener design, and executing recruitment. Additionally, this guide provides strategies for ensuring quality control throughout the recruiting process and database management.
This document is not intended to be a complete description for recruiting and screening for consumer testing, it focuses on general guidelines. This document does not include selection of assessors for sensory testing. For detailed information for sensory assessor selection, see Manual 90 2nd Ed. Guidelines for Selection & Training of Sensory Panel Members.
Users will be anyone involved in conducting consumer sensory tests and the recruiting of consumers. The standard is needed to detail considerations and methods for the selection of the right consumers for sensory testing.
