New Specification for Standard Safety and Performance Specification for Soccer Goals Weighing 40 lbs. or Less.
1. Scope
1.1 This standard specifies safety and performance requirements aimed at providing safer soccer goals and thereby reducing injuries and fatalities.
1.2 This standard applies to all soccer goals with a total weight equal to or less than 40 lb when weighed in accordance with 7.1.1 and 7.1.2.
1.3 This standard supersedes Specification F2673-08.*
1.4 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.
1.5 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
There is currently no safety and performance specification for soccer goals weighing 40 lbs. or less. ASTM F2950-14 addresses larger, institutional use type goals. It's scope is limited to goals weighing more than 40 lbs. Performance and safety concerns for smaller goals serving the general public are much different than those for professional and institutional use goals. Therefore, a separate standard for goals weighing 40 lbs. and less is needed.
