consistency is needed for comparison of SIF events across countries and between companies. Many companies have criteria for defining seriousness of events, but they are not consistent. Prevention efforts can be most effective when there is a common understanding of these incidents. This standard would complement E2920 which focuses on injury and illness events, but does not address other types of incidents.
