Currently there is no ASTM standard for the practice of onsite hydrostatic testing of precast concrete structures, particularly structures composed of one or more assembled sections. References to hydrostatic test methods exist in specific sections of ASTM C969, ASTM C1227 and ASTM C1613, but those procedures are specific to products listed in the scopes of those standards and exclude other precast concrete structures. This standard establishes exfiltration acceptance testing criteria for other precast concrete water and wastewater structures and matches the criteria in ASTM C969 for circular manholes. The scope of this practice clearly indicates that it is not for use at the manufacturing facility prior to delivery.
