ASTM WK93825
It was discussed during January's ASTM C24 meeting that this standard is redundant, outdated, and not used. C24 holds the jurisdiction of two test methods for tack-free time, ASTM C679 and ASTM D2377. These two methods follow roughly the same procedure, but report different results; ASTM C679 provides continuous quantitative data while ASTM D2377 provides discrete quantitative data testing for TFT at 72 or 120 hours. ASTM D2377 was originally approved in 1965 and ASTM C679 was originally approved in 1971. No major sealant manufacturer lists ASTM D2377 in their TDS/PDS. ASTM C679 is listed, or the manufacturers own procedure is listed.
