New Practice for Characterization of Digital Neutron Imaging Detectors
1. Scope
Evaluation of digital imaging detectors as used for neutron radiography. Intended for use by manufacturers or integrators to provide quantitative results of detector characteristics for NDT user or purchaser consumption. Intended for use by users and their customers to enable process control and long term stability of neutron digital imaging systems. This standard is intended to be agnostic to detector technology and will include x-ray Digital Detector Arrays (DDAs) modified for use in neutron radiography, as well as camera-based systems as described in E3398, and emerging solid-state neutron imaging systems.
Keywords
neutron radiography; digital detector array; digital imaging detector
Rationale
There are currently no standard practices for digital neutron radiography. This new standard, which is similar in scope to the x-ray standards E2597 and E2737, is intended to provide manufacturers and users of digital neutron imaging detectors a common standard by which to evaluate and compare so that an appropriate detector is selected to meet NDT requirements.
