Rationale

The current version of ASTM B987 permits only single-strand carbon fiber composite (CFC) core. At least two (2) suppliers are making a seven-strand CFC core. At least one has completed all lab testing and field qualification and is sold commercially. The industry needs a peer-reviewed consensus standard covering both single-strand and stranded CFC core.
